One thing I’m asked about my role as Ambassador for The Longest Table is this…
“Why do I love doing it?”
This Thursday just gone, I was a guest interviewee on CoastFM and was asked that very question by the host Dave, and Oh. My. God… My answer still makes me cringe loudly everytime I think about it.
Ummmm, well, I meet so many people… Oh, but they’re actually good people… People who want to do good things for humanity… Like… HeeHeeHee, you know?
LOL.
LAUGH. OUT. LOUD!
But, in all seriousness, DIE OUT LOUD!
DIE. OUT. LOUD.
You can all see where I was going with it though, right? Maybeeee, I need to start rehearsing in front of the mirror or something… With a hairbrush as a microphone…
Or, maybe not.
Note to everyone: Creative licence has been taken for dramatic effect, but my answer was still that awkward and embarrassing… Dear God, I pray there’s no podcast to haunt me.
Anyhoo, even though my dense reply, was a speech you’d expect to hear from Miss Teen South Carolina, it’s actually the truth.
I was blown into an ‘Out of this World’ orbit of kindness last year, when I was joined by so many amazingly generous people – see my blog post about it HERE.
And this year, well what can I say… If last year blew me into orbit, this year, I’m in a whole different Galaxy.
The people I meet and work with through this charity. They warm my cockles, they make me happy to be a human being, they restore my faith in mankind.
The amazing, generous, caring, awesome, giving people and businesses.
And, all of them with only one thing on their minds… Help us to make a difference.
Help to make our Longest Table event something truly spectacular, so we can raise as much money as possible, to fight this hideous disease.
They all have a story, no actually, WE ALL have a story. Cancer doesn’t discriminate.
No one is immune. No family is untouched. No individual is spared from its terrible wrath.
So, I want to take this opportunity to thank our wonderful sponsors.
This event would be nothing without you all. We needed you, and you answered our call.
From the bottom of my heart, and without further ado…
THANK YOU SO MUCH!

And, a HUGE thank you to all our Auction sponsors!
Make sure you go to https://www.thelongesttable.com.au/charity-auction/ in the coming days to check out the items up for auction from some amazingly kind-hearted people and businesses, who are helping us to #forkcancer as well. And, don’t forget to bid while you’re there…
So, we put our food obsessed Ambassador heads together, and Dougal and I have created a charcoaled and smoked ‘Dude Food’ extravaganza like no other for this event, because, quite simply, the cancer fighting heroes we’ll be cooking for, are just a bunch of Ace freakin’ Dudes.
And, as a tastebud tantalising whistle whetter, I’m gifting you with a recipe from our Longest Table menu, my Jalapeño Cornbread.
Ohhhh Lordy, GET IN MA BELLY… Actually, get in EVERYONE’S bellies.
So if you want to join in on Saturday June 20, and make a difference too while eating and drinking up a BBQ storm, go to this link and donate for a seat at our Longest Table – and, even if you can’t make it, you can still just donate…
